The Day of the Dolphin (1973) – Granted, “talking dolphin assassins” sounds incredibly silly, but Scott’s performance gives the film some credibility, and Nichols does a good job making it believable; while the film has a great score and some wonderful dolphin shots, its crippling flaw is that it’s just too inert, caught in no man’s land between “thoughtful sci-fi” and “thriller.” 5
