The Lion King

The Lion King (1994) – Lacking only a more developed story, the great songs, smart Shakespeare-lite script, and brilliant color palette place this film in the ranks of Disney’s greats (let’s set aside to what extent it rips off Kimba the White Lion); since it came out, Disney hasn’t made a better cartoon. 7

  1. Oh, this is a 10 for me. One of my favorite movies ever. Is has deep spiritual resonance with me too. I can identify with Simba, the son of the King (God) who is driven out by the lies and voice of condemnation (Scar), and comes back to take his rightful place remembering who he is - Mufassa telling him "You are my son. Remember...Remember..." That's deep stuff. Best Disney movie ever to me.

  2. Epic movie, and a bomb soundtrack by Hans Zimmer with one of the most iconic movie openings..."NAAAA-SAVENYAAA-BODDABEEDABADOOO-SVENYAEEYAAYY..."
