Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) – It’s frequently
cute, and it’s earnestly well-intentioned (if authoritarian) in its premise;
unfortunately, it’s also a low-budget mess of juvenile scripting,
terrible blue screen, an astounding disregard for physics, a moderately silly villain
whose name Gene Hackman can’t even pronounce, and Superman’s greatest indignity
of all: masonry vision; still, I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for this one, and
I like it a little better than my score suggests. 4
