Solomon Kane

Solomon Kane (2009) – The theology is extremely silly, which takes away from the message of redemption, but Purefoy is excellent, and, with the exception of the serious misstep of the crucifixion scene, which is poor on a number of levels, Bassett does pretty good directorial work with a rather middling script (which, it should be noted, he also wrote); I spent the first half of the film thinking, “I think I’d trust Bassett to make Diablo: The Movie” and the second half thinking, “Oh, he did.” 6
