The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013) – Holy smokes, 50+
Jim Carrey got shredded for this movie; too bad he’s one of the few highlights,
though, as many of the jokes try way too hard, entire scenes are painfully
asinine, and Carell’s character is utterly tiresome; in its defense, the movie
does have the occasional moment, and the magic is cool (when they’re not
cheating with CGI, which is often). 5
I really enjoyed this movie. I thought it had good parodies of old school and street magicians, particularly Carrey with his David Blaine-ish stunts. Olivia Wilde was funny and enjoyable too. I like upbeat movies and I liked the message of Wonderstone finding the joy in magic again at the retirement home and birthday party. And the Abra-Cadabra song is super catchy lol.
